Chocolate chip cookies. You know them. You love them. And . . . you can’t get away from them.

At my church, there is a Holiday Bizarre to raise money for the school. Parents are asked to bring cookies, a dessert, or some holiday treat for a mix and match bake sale. One thing I tend to notice is that every year there is an abundance of chocolate chip cookies.

They are all a little different (some fat, some round, some crunchy, some falling apart), but they all stem from the original Nestle Toll House cookie recipe. Don’t get me wrong I love a classic cookie recipe, but sometimes life calls us out of our cookie comfort zone. That is why I love this elevated chocolate chip cookie recipe!

A full plate of Malted Chocolate Chip cookies sits next to a single cookie with a bite taken out.

Malted milk powder is a mystery to some, and you may only associate it with malted milkshake recipes, but it can be such a great tool for baking too! When baking, malted milk powder blends in a special way with the sugars in cookie dough. This creates intensely rich layers of toasted buttery flavor broken up by sweet traces of warm and melty chocolate. The addition of malted milk powder also makes a chewier and crispier cookie. Who doesn’t love that?!

Amid chocolate chips, four Malted Milk Cookies are stacked in a tower and the top cookie has a bite taken out of it.
