Calling all horseradish lovers! This bacon horseradish dip is for you! This creamy dip is loaded with nonstop flavor. Smoky bacon, zippy horseradish and sour cream are the shining stars in this easy to make appetizer.
One thing that can be difficult to figure out is what kind of appetizer to bring to a party, a luncheon, or just to serve to your own guests before dinner. Even after all these years, I struggle to find a versatile recipe that is easy to travel with, requires very little prep time, and is a hit with just about everyone.
My newest solution to this problem is Bacon Horseradish Dip! This zesty but creamy dip is accented by a subtle and savory flavor that can only be found in real bacon bits! I love this recipe because it requires very few ingredients, but packs a punch of flavor. That means that it is perfect to whip up when I’m in a pinch or when I want a delicious afternoon snack!
This dip can be eaten with anything . . . and I mean ANYTHING! Try it with potato chips, crackers, pretzel pieces, tortilla chips, pita bread, bagel chips, fresh cut veggies, French fries, and even tater tots. Use it to top baked potatoes, hamburgers, or even as a spread on a roast beef sandwich. There are no limits to your dip/spread options!
Creamy horseradish is not always to everyone’s taste, but a dip like this is a great way to introduce some of those bold flavors to a skeptic!

What Do I Need to Make Bacon Horseradish Dip?
- 1 cup of sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2-4 Tablespoons of prepared horseradish, depending on your tastes
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (2.5 ounce bag) cooked real bacon pieces OR about 8-10 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
Please note: While I’m a big fan of shortcuts and have used packaged bacon pieces for this recipe, I do not recommend using imitation bacon bits.
Full fat sour cream and mayo will provide the creamiest and richest flavor for this dip.
Instructions:
Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 25-30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.
Reserve a few crumbled bacon pieces to sprinkle on the top, if desired.
