Spicy Mango Salsa
This is the best Spicy Mango Salsa recipe. Fresh and fruity, sweet and spicy, this mango salsa just takes a handful of simple ingredients, but don’t let that fool you. I’ve eaten of bowls of this with a spoon all on it’s own because it’s that good.

The other day they had bags of mangos on sale at the Amish store nearby. It kind of seemed like an odd fruit to find in the middle of Northwest Missouri in an Amish store, but I was thrilled, because who wouldn’t want a $1 bag of juicy mangos?!
This fresh mango salsa has to be one of my favorite homemade salsas to make. The simple flavors of mangos, peppers, jalapenos, onions with lime juice and salt is a match made in heaven. You can make it fiery hot or tame it down based on your preferences.

If you love the combination of mangos and jalapenos, you’ll also love this Mango Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce.

This salsa is perfect for using as a topping for things like fish tacos, chicken or to scoop up with tortilla chips at parties. Our favorite ways of serving this salsa is spooned over Air Fryer Hot Honey Salmon Bites and Honey Garlic Shrimp.
Here’s what you’ll need to make Spicy Mango Salsa

Mangos: Ripe fresh mangos work best, but you can make do with mangos that aren’t quite at their peak and are a little unripe. They will have a more firm texture and be a bit more tart. You can add a bit of honey to bring back that sweetness. Frozen mangos can also be used, just make sure they are completely thawed and drained of excess liquid before using or you’ll have watery salsa.
Watch this tutorial on cutting mangos if you’re unsure how to get the most flesh from your mango.
Bell Peppers: This recipe calls for red and orange bell peppers, but any color of bell pepper will do. Green bell peppers are fine! When making salsa I often like to keep my sweet peppers a different color than my spicy peppers.
Jalapenos: If you really like spicy, try substituting a serrano or habanero pepper instead. Make sure you always wear gloves and use proper safety when cutting hot peppers.
Red Onion: Feel free to substitute another variety of onion or even scallions if that’s what you have on hand.
Limes: Fresh limes! No substitutes! The fresh lime juice is what makes this combination shine.
Fresh Cilantro, optional: If you are one of the unfortunate souls who has the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap, then feel free to leave it out.
Salt
Step by step Instructions:

Finely chop all the ingredients and place them in a bowl. Make sure you wear gloves when chopping your hot peppers!

Juice the limes and add the lime juice. Stir and salt to taste.

Let the salsa sit for a few minutes to let the flavors blend before serving!
Notes and Substitutions:
Fresh lime juice is a must! Bottled lime juice will not cut it in this recipe.
One of the great things about this recipe is that it makes a pretty universal fruit salsa recipe. If you don’t happen to have access to mangos, or maybe don’t have enough on hand to make this recipe feel free to switch it up. Pineapple, peaches and even strawberries make great additions and help compliment the sweetness of the mangos.
If you like your salsa to have more of a spicy kick, try switching out the jalapeño peppers for serrano peppers or even habanero peppers. Just make sure that you are always being careful when preparing your salsa by wearing gloves any time you handle spicy peppers like these.
