Spicy Mango Salsa

Fresh and fruity, sweet and spicy, this spicy mango salsa just takes a handful of simple ingredient and a few minutes to make.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangos
  • 2 small limes- juiced or about ¼ cup of fresh lime juice
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 orange bell pepper
  • 1-2 jalapenos- remove seeds
  • ½ red onion
  • Cilantro optional
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Finely chop all ingredients and place in a bowl.
  • Juice limes and pour over the mixture.
  • Salt to taste, and mix well.
  • Allow the salsa to sit for 5-10 minutes to let the flavors blend.

Notes

 

Fresh lime juice is a must! Bottled lime juice will not cut it in this recipe. 
One of the great things about this recipe is that it makes a pretty universal fruit salsa recipe. If you don't happen to have access to mangos, or maybe don't have enough on hand to make this recipe feel free to switch it up. Pineapple, peaches and even strawberries make great additions and help compliment the sweetness of the mangos. 
If you like your salsa to have more of a spicy kick, try switching out the jalapeño peppers for serrano peppers or even habanero peppers. Just make sure that you are always being careful when preparing your salsa by wearing gloves any time you handle spicy peppers like these.
