You might have noticed I have a quite a few ground beef recipes on Accidental Happy Baker! Yes, I love how budget friendly and quick and easy ground beef is to work with, not to mention versatile. But I also get it delivered in bulk and probably have 50 pounds of it in my deep freeze. So now you know why it is I’m always looking for new, or old, but exciting ways to fix up plain old hamburger.

A pot of finished Swedish Meatballs stirred with a wooden spoon.

This Swedish Meatball recipe is the perfect combination of quick, easy and budget friendly home cooked comfort food.  Best of all, it’s all prepared in one pot, I recommend a Dutch oven if you have one. But a deep skillet or sauté pan works too.

What makes Swedish meatballs different?

It’s the combination of spices. Swedish meatballs typically have allspice or ground nutmeg in them. If you’ve never tried them before, it might sound odd, but it definitely adds a lot of flavor.

Two Swedish meatballs held by a wooden spoon over the pot.

I prefer ground beef, but this recipe works well with ground turkey and even ground pork, so feel free to mix it up depending on what you have on hand.

You might notice the sauce for this dish doesn’t have a lot of added seasonings. Because the meatballs, noodles and sauce are all cooked together in the same pan, the sauce takes on a lot of flavor from the meatballs and there isn’t really much needed.

Here’s what you’ll need:

The ingredients for Swedish meatballs and the ingredients for the gravy are laid out on a table.

    1. Hi Kathy! This recipe serves 4-6 people, so 2-3 meatballs per person. Unfortunately, to be able to calculate nutritional information for recipes, I cannot use serving suggestions like 4-6 people, I just have to choose 4 or 6 and go with it.

Hope this helps you decide if this recipe is right for your family or not!
      Thanks, Amy
