What Do I Need to Make McGriddle Muffins?
- 2 1/4 cups of any complete Pancake mix that just requires water
- 1 1/3 cups of water
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Step by Step Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a muffin tin well. If you have a silicone muffin pan, they work really well for easily removing these muffins.
Step 2: In a skillet, brown the breakfast sausage. Drain the grease from the meat and set it aside. Leave just enough grease in the bottom of the pan to scramble the eggs.
Step 3: Cook the eggs over medium heat, breaking them up into less than bite-sized pieces as they cook. Set aside.
Step 4: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix the pancake mix, water, syrup, salt and pepper. Stir in the sausage, eggs, and cheese.
Step 5: Pour the mixture by scant 1/4 cups into your prepared muffin pan.
Step 6: Bake at 400 Degrees for about 16-18 minutes or until the tops have nicely domed and browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the muffins to cool at least 5-6 minutes before removing from the tin. Serve with extra syrup for dipping.
To freeze your McGriddle Muffins just wrap them individually with cling wrap once they have cooled and store them in a freezer bag. When you want to reheat them, unwrap and place your muffin in the microwave for 1 minute or until warmed through.

Why do you cook the eggs first on the stove? They would cook in the oven? Thanks. May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Hi Shelly,
You cook the eggs on the stove first because you want them to be scrambled. If you tried to simply add the eggs to the batter, you’d just get an eggier batter, not bits of scrambled egg mixed in. The way it’s done ensures all the elements of a sausage, egg and cheese McGriddle are there in the finished product for a muffin that tastes like the breakfast sandwich.
Hope this answers your question!

As a McGriddle lover, I knew I had to try these. My kids and I all declared these to be winners. Easy to make and delicious. These will definitely be in our breakfast rotation.
Holy cow! Amazingly good! I made mine with turkey sausage and they turned out perfect! Thank you for a new fun breakfast recipe!
I made the muffins first and they were great but for Christmas morning I mixed up same ingredients added half box of rinsed blueberries and baked it in an 8×8 pan and was still Fabulous! I used Bisquick and it was fine. Didn’t add the water.
If making mini muffins I was wondering how long you think it would take to bake?
Hi Tracy,
I’d try baking them for about 10-12 minutes for mini muffins.

These turned out so delicious! Very easy to make and tastes better than a McDonalds McGriddle! They were a hit with my family! Thank you!
I made these with self rising flour, 1 egg, milk and sugar-free syrup for the batter. They turned out perfectly and tasted wonderful!
I cut the recipe in half – worked perfect! These are REALLY good!!!
Fabulous Chris! Glad that you were able to make it work for you.
Hi Amy! I just fixed these Muffins this morning; they are delicious!! Not having Pancake Mix, I used Bisquick & followed the recipe as written…I had a little extra batter, so I baked a small loaf with the extra. Everything turned out so very good! Thanks for the recipe 🙂
