The smell of apple pie waffles in the morning is one you will never want to get rid of! That’s why I love my waffle maker! It is a quick and easy tool to get breakfast on the table without taking up tons of prep and cleanup time.
Fluffy and sweet, the only thing missing is the perfect apple waffle topping! Oh wait, that’s easy! Serve up your waffles with some whipped cream and sprinkle them with cinnamon for another blast of flavor. Or, top with some more of that apple pie filling!
I particularly like to use canned apple pie filling for this recipe because it is packed with all the good apple spices (cinnamon and nutmeg), and can be ready to go at a moment’s notice. What Do I Need to Make Easy Apple Waffles?
- 1 ½ cup flour
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 egg
- 1 cup apple pie filling, I always recommend getting the “more fruit” variety!
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Step by Step Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat waffle iron.
Step 2: In a medium sized bowl stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Step 3: In a separate mixing bowl, add 1 cup of apple pie filling. Use the end of a whisk, a mix and chopper or a large fork to mash the apple pie filling until the chunks of apples are smaller than ½ inch.
Step 4: Whisk the milk, egg, and vanilla into the apple pie filling.
Step 5: Next add the dry ingredients and whisk again, only until all the dry ingredients are completely incorporated. You want to be careful not to overmix because this could make your waffles tough!
Step 6: Pour waffle batter onto greased waffle iron and cook until golden. Serve warm, topped with remaining apple pie filling, maple syrup, or whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon! Yum!
