Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat waffle iron.
  • In a medium sized bowl stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, add 1 cup of apple pie filling. Using the end of a whisk, a mix and chopper or a large fork, mash the apple pie filling until the chunks of apple are smaller than ½ inch.
  • Whisk the milk, egg, and vanilla into the apple pie filling.
  • Next add the dry ingredients and whisk again, only until all the dry ingredients are completely incorporated. You don’t want to overmix as this could make your waffles tough.
  • Pour batter onto greased waffle iron and cook until golden. Serve warm, topped with remaining apple pie filling,  maple syrup or whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

Be careful not to overmix the batter.
