  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound italian sausage
  • 1/3 cup diced onion
  • 1/3 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 4 ounce can sliced black olives
  • 2 15 ounce cans pizza sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 8 sandwich buns

  1. In a large saute pan brown the ground beef and italian sausage with the onion, garlic and green pepper. Break apart the meat into crumbles as it cooks.

  2. Drain the fat from the meat and return to the skillet. Add the pizza sauce, black olives, and sugar. Simmer covered in the pan for 15 minutes.

  3. Serve on buns with sliced provolone cheese. You can place the assembled sloppy joes, without the bun tops, on a baking sheet under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the provolone cheese before serving, if desired.
