Friday 5: Vacation and tech upgrades

by Amy D

For quite a while I’ve wanted to have some posts that were not about food and recipes but just about life and the random things I wish I could tell you guys. Any time I have big news, something funny happens or I just really want to share with y’all it feels so awkward trying to sandwich it into a recipe post.  So here goes! I hope you’ll enjoy following along with my adventures, mishaps, and goals as well as my recipes.

My latest big news. Did you see my Facebook post about leaving my job at the library? Yeah, that happened. So now I’m back to blogging full time. It’s exciting and overwhelming. I’m the kind of person who craves creativity in my daily life but also wants a schedule and consistency. Finding that balance is always hard.

My going away flowers from my coworkers.

I spent the last week on vacation. One of my best friends had a work conference on Hilton Head Island and invited me along with her. It was amazing! I’d never really traveled without my family and having the freedom to just do what I wanted, when I wanted felt crazy awesome. I became a mom at 18, so I hadn’t felt that freedom for looong time! We also went to Savannah, Georgia and it was beautiful, but wild because we were there right in the middle of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Goals! For a while I’ve wanted to get into more video work. This week I jumped in head first and ordered lights, a mic, and another camera. I’m hoping this will be everything I need to allow me to do several different styles of videos. So excited about that!

Ready to make some videos! Minus the curlers.

I’ve had a few requests for book reviews (something I did at my job at the library) and would love to keep doing those if you guys would be interested.  I am a hard core bibliophile.  Please, please, if there are other things you’d like to hear more about, just shoot me an email or leave a comment and let me know.

Hey Amy,

Glad to see you guys made it to Savannah.
Still haven’t launched the website I spoke to you about, but I have reserved the names as you suggested.

Take care and I love the site.

I have been trying to find my old recipe for sweet and sour pork. I know the ingredients…………….pork chops, cream of mushroom soup, brown sugar and sauerkraut. It is SO good. Been researching with no success. I suppose I could mix the mushroom soup (a can), sauerkraut (a can) and guess the amount of brown sugar. I know for pork chops. I am so close and just need to do it. It is SO good. An older relative gave this to me. People would love it sincerely.
